Nicola Henry is Professor, Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow and Deputy Director of the Social Equity Research Centre at RMIT University (Melbourne, Australia). She has over 25 years’ experience in research on sexual violence in both international and domestic criminal justice realms with a focus on post-conflict justice (war crimes trials, civil society tribunals), rape law reform, sexual assault on university campuses and technology-facilitated sexual violence (including image-based sexual abuse). She is currently working on an ARC Future Fellowship on the efficacy of digital tools and platforms for responding to image-based sexual abuse.

Nicola has published widely in the sexual violence field, including in international journals such as Gender & Society, Violence Against Women, Social & Legal Studies, the Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Computers in Human Behavior, Trauma, Violence, and Abuse, and the International Journal of Transitional Justice. Her books include: War and Rape: Law, Memory and Justice (Routledge, 2011); Preventing Sexual Violence: Interdisciplinary Approaches to Overcoming a Rape Culture (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014); Rape Justice: Beyond the Criminal Law (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015); Sexual Violence in a Digital Age (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017); Image-Based Sexual Abuse: A Study of the Causes and Consequences of Non-Consensual Nude or Sexual Imagery (Routledge, 2021); and The Emerald International Handbook of Technology-Facilitated Violence and Abuse (Emerald, 2021).
